Finjan CTO Yuval Ben-Itzhak Named One of Computerworld’s
“40 Innovative IT People To Watch, Under the Age of 40”

Honorees to be profiled in Computerworld’s 40th Anniversary Special Edition

Finjan, a leader in secure web gateway products, today announced that IDG’s Computerworld, the premier source of IT industry news and analysis, selected Finjan CTO Yuval Ben-Itzhak as one of its “40 Innovative IT People to Watch, Under the Age of 40.” Ben-Itzhak was selected for the award by a panel of Computerworld editors for his vision in the pioneering of Internet security solutions and his innovative entrepreneurial endeavors.  Honorees will be profiled in Computerworld’s 40th Anniversary special edition, which is available July 9, 2007, and on Computerworld’s Web site.

For several months, Computerworld’s panel of senior editors evaluated hundreds of nominations, and selected only 40 nominees that most embody the type of person who:

  • Uses cutting-edge technology to solve complex business problems
  • Shows a clear grasp of how to motivate people and/or lead an IT department
  • Makes big changes through technology
  • Has the vision or ability to apply IT in unique or innovative ways, and
  • Understands the breadth of IT management functions from technology to budgeting to interpersonal relations

As CTO at Finjan since 2005, Ben-Itzhak drives the company’s technological vision and advances its product and solution roadmap in line with the ever-growing security needs of businesses and enterprises. His responsibilities include the ongoing development of Finjan’s robust intellectual property portfolio which currently includes 47 granted and pending patents in the content security domain. Ben-Itzhak also heads Finjan’s Malicious Code Research Center (MCRC), dedicated to keeping Finjan’s security technology steps ahead of the hacker community. A security industry veteran with over 15 years in high-level management, he founded web application security company KaVaDo, later sold to Protegrity Corp. Previous to founding KaVaDo, he was CTO at Ness Technologies, a global provider of end-to-end IT solutions and services, and, before that, senior project manager at Intel Corp., where he was in charge of the design and development of multi-million dollar software projects. Ben-Itzhak began his professional career as a member of an elite intelligence unit of the Israeli Defense Forces, where he was responsible for the design and development of security systems for mission-critical projects. Ben-Itzhak holds various patents and patent applications in security and networking technologies, and has written dozens of articles on security and networking that have been published around the world. Ben-Itzhak has a B.Sc. in Information Systems and Engineering, com laude, from Ben-Gurion University, Israel.

Ben-Itzhak has also been selected as InfoWorld’s “Top 25 Most Influential CTOs of 2004”.
