    SecureTweets runs on Microsoft Windows XP Home (Service Pack 2), Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), and Windows Vista.

    What web browsers are supported?

    Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0, and Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and above

    I installed SecureTweets, but don’t see the button in my browser. What must I do?

    Firefox users:

    Select Tools->Extension or Tools->Add-ons

    You should see now that you have successfully installed and enabled SecureTweets.

    Internet Explorer users:

    1. Select View->Toolbars->SecureTweets to check that the SecureTweets button is enabled
    2. Select Tools->Internet Options->Advanced. Under Browsing, select Enable third-party browser extensions (this requires restart).
    3. Select Tools->Internet Options->Programs->Manage Add-ons to enable SecureTweets

    Can I click on a URL when the spinner icon is showing?

    The spinner icon indicates that the URL is still under inspection.

    If you want to access a URL during inspection, you need to select Options->Allow access to unchecked URLs in the drop-down menu of the SecureTweets button.

    Why don’t I see icons next to the URLs on my Twitter? I use Internet Explorer 7.

    1. Select Tools->Internet Options->Advanced
    2. Select the Security tab and click on the Reset all zones to default level
    3. Click OK on the dialog
    4. Close Internet Explorer and re-open it to apply changes

    I only want to see red icons to warn me about potentially malicious URLs. How do I do that?

    Select Options->Show unsafe/red URLs only in the drop-down menu of the SecureTweets button.

    How is my SecureTweets updated?

    SecureTweets uses manual and automatic update mechanisms.

    Each time you go on Twitter, SecureTweets will check for the latest updates.

    If you prefer, you can also manually check for updates by selecting Check for Updates in the drop-down menu of the SecureTweets button.
